Tips
- Remember our sweet whey powder can be used to add binding to any mix. Start by adding 5% – 50g per kg mix, you can then adjust accordingly. Adding more will increase the binding, vice versa adding less will decrease the break down time. This is to be added to the dry mix, then mixed very well before wetting.
- We recommend slowly adding water/liquid additives to any mix, be careful not to add too much water. A nice fluffy texture that still breaks down is ideal. Too much water can make a mix go hard. More water can always be added if required, but it can’t be removed.
- 1L pump spray bottle is ideal for wetting mixes, also great for mixing liquid additives with water before wetting mix.
- Once desired texture is achieved keep in an air tight bucket/container, this helps stop it from drying out.

Himalayan Rock Salt (FINE)

New Ultra Buoyant Fluoro Orange Pop Up Mix
*Please note that you will need to add more of the new pop up mix to your liquid egg than with our original mix, not adding enough pop up mix with create really soft pop ups. You need to add as much pop up mix as you can, stopping just before the dough goes too dry.
This pop-up mix will make extremely buoyant hook baits which will remain buoyant for days (we tested a 12mm for 5 days). We have been asked over and over again for a pop-up mix that is buoyant enough for a 12mm hook bait to hold a size 4 hook up with a ring swivel, look no further this pop-up does just that. The 12mm hook baits we have experimented with have stayed popped up for 5 days, we then stopped testing. Made with Milk and Egg Proteins thus increasing leakage, it also takes on attractors and flavours extremely well, you will find it easy to use and roll. It has a firm texture but remains soft enough to use with a bait needle without excessive force.
One egg will take approximately 80-100 grams of pop-up mix. You will get approximately 5 pots of pop ups per 250 grams of pop-up mix once made.
Simply add 40g Fluoro dye per kg plain pop-up mix to create fluorescent hook baits. For washed out add 20g white dye and 20g fluoro dye per kg pop up mix. These are recommendations and can be altered until you achieve your desired colour. Add both pop-up mix and your chosen dyes into a large plastic bag, then close bag trapping some air inside and shake well until mixed evenly.
With this mix being so buoyant it allows you to add extra base mix when creating wafters.
For shelf life hook baits add 10-15ml of bait preserve per egg. It is important to remember the main part of the process is to dry your hook baits well prior to storing, usually a minimum of 48hrs, it can be slightly longer in the colder months due to extra moisture being in the air, the longer your hook baits are dried the less the moisture content will be helping to prevent mould growth.
This pop up mix requires boiling for roughly 90 seconds for a 12mm and 120secs for 15mm hook baits.
Fluoro Pink Wafter Mix
After being asked many many times for a wafter mix we are extremely happy to offer this superb mix. Made with Milk and Egg Proteins thus increasing leakage, it also takes on attractors and flavours extremely well, you will find it easy to use and roll. It has a firm texture but remains soft enough to use with a bait needle without excessive force. This wafter mix has been made on the buoyant side allowing you to add base mix when creating matching hook baits. When being used without any other powders added to the mix a dumbell wafter (12mm size nozzle on a 15mm rolling table) will sit nicely using a size 4 hook with a ring swivel. There is always going to be a little trial and error when creating these sort of hook baits, you can alter the buoyancy of the mix by adding more powders to the wafter mix until you achieve your desired waft. Make sure you write everything down in percentages, you can then alter your percentages until you achieve your required buoyancy, also remember the buoyancy will increase slightly as the hook bait dries out, vice versa once the hook baits takes no water it will decrease the buoyancy. Black full strength colour. This powdered colour has been selected over numerous cheaper alternatives after vigorous testing. This bait colourant will die baits black unlike some of the many colours we tested.
