  Over the last few years, we have worked tremendously hard sourcing only the highest quality ingredients, liquids, and additives available from all over the globe. Many of our new products are now exclusive to AA Baits, which allows us to formulate and offer the very best, premium quality in-house mixes, available on the market. That being said, we do keep a handful of specially sourced products close to our chest, making our mixes stand out from the rest 😉. In order for all our customers to receive a premium mix at a very fair price, we have always supplied direct. Cutting out the middle man allows us to operate using all our finest ingredients and stimulants. This also allows our finest products to be used at optimal levels.

  Our HNV Fishmeal basemix has been developed using a combination of high quality Norwegian (LT-94) fishmeal and (CPSP 90) Pre-digested fishmeal alongside CLO, milk and egg proteins and proven appetite stimulators providing a perfectly balanced mix that can be used all year round with confidence. Ideal for long term baiting campaigns.

  Use approximately 9 eggs per Kg of dry base mix.

  All our base mix’s are tried, tested and roll perfectly. We use only the highest quality ingredients available, in all optimum levels formulating an excellent food source which in turn keeps the fish coming back for more as they become familiar with the nutritional value of the bait.

  Contains: Large Amount of Norwegian LT94 Fishmeal, (CPSP 90) Pre-digested Fishmeal, Actifish (100% soluble) Fishmeal, Salmon Fishmeal, CLO, and a blend of high quality Casein’s\Caseinate’s, Crunchy kelp meal, Betaine & Egg proteins to name just a few ingredients in this mix.

  Our mixes do arrive ready to roll, but many of our customers do add their own ingredients and additives to make it a unique formulation. Please bear in mind altering the mix may affect the rolling so some trial and error might be required depending on the products being added.

  TIP: When making your own boilies it gives you the chance to NOT boil some. This allows you to have baits that haven’t been boiled, which in turn looses some goodness. But most of all it allows these baits to break down and disperse all the soluble attractors and feed stimulants into your swim much faster. These baits would require being kept in a bucket/container to save being crushed/broken once dried. Again these baits wouldn’t be hard enough to be used in a throwing stick.

  Use approximately 9 eggs per kilogram of dry base mix for optimal binding. This base mix will produce dark brown/deep red boilies.

  Our base mixes are tried, tested, and consistently roll perfectly. We exclusively utilize high-quality ingredients, carefully balanced at their optimal levels to produce an excellent food source. This ensures the bait remains highly attractive and nutritionally rich, encouraging fish to return as they become familiar with its benefits.

  Tip: When creating your own boilies, consider leaving some unboiled. Unboiled baits retain more nutrients and soluble attractors, leading to faster dispersal and increased feeding activity in your swim.   This pop-up mix will make extremely buoyant hook baits which will remain buoyant for days (we tested a 12mm for 5 days). We have been asked over and over again for a pop-up mix that is buoyant enough for a 12mm hook bait to hold a size 4 hook up with a ring swivel, look no further this pop-up does just that. The 12mm hook baits we have experimented with have stayed popped up for 5 days, we then stopped testing. Made with Milk and Egg Proteins thus increasing leakage, it also takes on attractors and flavours extremely well, you will find it easy to use and roll. It has a firm texture but remains soft enough to use with a bait needle without excessive force.

  One egg will take approximately 180-100 grams of pop-up mix. You will get approximately 5 pots of pop ups per 250 grams of pop-up mix once made.

  Simply add 40g Fluoro dye per kg plain pop-up mix to create fluorescent hook baits. For washed out add 20g white dye and 20g fluoro dye per kg pop up mix. These are recommendations and can be altered until you achieve your desired colour. Add both pop-up mix and your chosen dyes into a large plastic bag, close bag trapping some air inside and shake well until mixed evenly.

  With this mix being so buoyant it allows you to add extra base mix when creating wafters.

  For shelf life hook baits add 10-15ml of bait preserve per egg. It is important to remember the main part of the process is to dry your hook baits well prior to storing, usually a minimum of 48hrs, it can be slightly longer in the colder months due to extra moisture being in the air, the longer your hook baits are dried the less moisture will help to prevent mould growth.

  After being asked many many times for a wafter mix we are extremely happy to offer this superb mix. Made with Milk and Egg Proteins thus increasing leakage, it also takes on attractors and flavours extremely well, you will find it easy to use and roll. It has a firm texture but remains soft enough to use with a bait needle without excessive force. This wafter mix has been made on the buoyant side allowing you to add base mix when creating matching hook baits. When being used without any other powders added to the mix a dumbell wafter (12mm size nozzle on a 15mm rolling table) will sit nicely using a size 4 hook with a ring swivel. There is always going to be a little trial and error when creating these sort of hook baits, you can alter the buoyancy of the mix by adding more powders to the wafter mix until you achieve your desired waft. Make sure you write everything down in percentages, you can then alter your percentages until you achieve your required buoyancy, also remember the buoyancy will increase slightly as the hook bait dries out, vice versa once the hook baits takes no water it will decrease the buoyancy.   AABaits Pop-Up Mix 

  Our AABaits Pop-Up Mix has been refined to improve handling and make rolling easier, while adding slightly more structure to the core. It now matches the buoyancy of our Ultra Buoyant Pop-Up Mix.

  This mix can be used with either water or liquid egg, alongside bait preservative. When using water and bait preservative, the finished baits will still be sufficiently firm. For those who prefer a harder finish, using liquid egg with bait preservative will increase firmness slightly compared to water.

  For best results, always weigh your liquids (egg or water) and powders accurately. Pop-up mixes require precise measurements, so we recommend using scales accurate to at least 1g to ensure consistency.

  This mix produces extremely buoyant hook baits that will remain popped up for days. In our tank tests, 12mm pop-ups tied to a size 4 hook with a micro ring swivel remained buoyant for over 7 days (testing was stopped at that point).

  Made with milk and egg proteins, along with high-quality milk powders, this mix offers excellent leakage and takes on flavours and attractors extremely well. It is easy to use and roll, with a firm yet workable texture that allows use with a bait needle without excessive force.

  Note: Colour inclusion rates are a starting point and can be adjusted to suit your desired colour intensity.

  Overall Ratio:
  The standard ratio is 1.46g powder to 1g liquid. This can be adjusted slightly when incorporating additional liquids and powdered additives such as flavours, oils, liquid foods, or powdered attractors.

  As a starting point for more customised mixes, you may reduce the ratio to around 1.35g powder to 1g liquid, then fine-tune as required to achieve your preferred consistency and workability.

  This yields approximately 250g of finished pop-up baits.

  Instructions

  1. Weigh out 80g water (or liquid egg) and 20g bait preservative (100g total).
  2. Add 10ml flavour and mix thoroughly.
  3. Add your chosen powder mix (standard, coloured, fluoro, pastel, or iron oxide) and combine evenly until a fluffy texture is achieved.
  4. Apply approximately 0.5ml of your chosen oil to vinyl gloves, coating them lightly.
  5. Knead for 2–3 minutes until a smooth dough forms.
  6. Place the dough in a sealed bag and leave to rest for 15 minutes to allow full absorption.
  7. Lightly re-knead, then roll into a sausage suitable for your extruder.
  8. Load into the sausage gun and extrude a small amount to check sizing.
  9. Start with a smaller nozzle opening and gradually trim it, checking against your rolling table after each adjustment. Always test with a full-length sausage before finalising, as length can affect expansion. Take your time—over-trimming will require a new nozzle.
  10. Once correct, extrude sausages to the required length.
  11. Roll using a rolling table and transfer to a tray. Dusting with rice flour is usually unnecessary with this mix, but if sticking occurs, lightly coat the tray (base and sides), then remove any excess before use. Gently shake the tray once baits are added.
  12. Bring water to the boil, then reduce slightly (around 98°C is ideal). Although this mix does hold shape at a full boil, slightly lower temperatures are recommended.

  Boiling times:

  • 12mm: 60 seconds
  • 15mm: 90 seconds
  • 18mm: 120 seconds

  13. Remove and place on an air-drying tray. Dry for a minimum of 48 hours.

  Proper drying is essential. Air dry for at least 48 hours before storing—longer in colder or more humid conditions. The lower the moisture content, the better the resistance to mould.

  • Add 40g fluoro dye per kg of pop-up mix for bright hook baits.
  • For a washed-out finish: 20g white dye + 20g fluoro dye per kg.

  Add both the pop-up mix and dyes into a sealed bag with some trapped air, then shake thoroughly to ensure even distribution. Adjust levels as required to achieve your desired colour.
